| | World Trade Attack Changes Workplace | | | The Society of Human Resource Managment polled over 5,000 human resource professionals on how the events of Sept 11, 2001 may or have changed their companies. Sixty six percent felt that employees would be more caring for each other. They reported that security is being reviewed and possible new security provisions are being ananlyisxed. Business travel will most likely be reduced by 35%.
| | | Helen Drinan, Presidento of SHRM said that "It's clear that change will come as a result of the atrocities committed against America and the American workplace," "Since most companies felt they were not prepared to deal with the aftermath of the attacks, one of the most important changes that can come is that employers and employees work together to set in place a crisis management plan. As rare as such attacks are, catastrophic events can also come in the form of natural disasters, workplace violence, accidents or other critical emergency situations and companies should be prepared to respond."
| | | Most companies, sixty percent, felt that they were not prepared for to deal with the attacks or the on going effect to their companies and employees. Many reported that the the fact that their workforces are reaching out to communicate, donate time or money, organizing meeting or even garage sales are helping to reduce the felling of helplessness.
| | | Fifty three percentage said that they do have a disaster plan in place and this help in organizing and focusing company.
